If this is how it really happened, then I am shocked to see how it can
be called a mere "prank". Not only is throwing a foreign object on a
good length spot on the pitch an unquestionable case of pitch
tampering, one would be hard-pressed to find a worse act of meanness
and unfair play on the cricket field.
I don't think it's enough to spank the sorry arses of this English
side. Nothing short of a ban for the English players involved and a
double ban for the English captain should be considered a just
punishment for this despicable act.
Michael Vaughan, you are a complete disgrace.
Completely illegit and unacceptable for players to willfully throw
around stuff on the pitch but considering that it was obviously a
prank, howsoever ill-advised, I wouldn't go beyond a reprimand as
punishment. It's rather easy to make too much of not too much.

But the point is, why was there so much cry about the alleged ball
tampering issue and this is just a funny incident? I am not saying
Pakistan did not tamper the ball - with their history they probably
did, but here it is clear for all to see that the pitch was tampered
with (Yes, it is not permanent - just like you can replace the ball
and it becomes temporary). Why is this hard to accept for *some*
people?
You don't think fooling around with jelly beans and scuffing a cricket
ball are two types of tampering are of comparable gravity, surely?
