All this is well and good Mr. Kumar, but at least in the case of India
a little more application on the part of the senior players, a little
more team spirit on the part of all the players and a little more
planning and implementation of what was planned and off course less
stealing or a more judicious use of abundant resources on the part of
the BCCI, might have made India a more respectable team in this world
cup, I think in view of the populations of the sub continent compared
with that of Eng/S.Africa and NZ, 1.5 billion Vs 75 mill(?) and the
resources India has to correct the situation, pointing fingers at the
latter countries, might be considered a wee bit specious ?
Gopal
Population has NOTHING to do with producing better players.........
I am sure you will LOVE 11 Dinesh Karthicks and 11 AWKWARD DANCERS Kaif in
the Indian team........

Shiva,
Ignored most of your post and concentrated on the title only so
apologies if any of what I am about to write is already mentioned in
your post.
Here is something for you to chew upon. Starting with 1992, the World
Cup final has seen a sub-continental team in every final, and starting
from 1975, there have been only three finals (out of 9) which have not
featured India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. They have, of course, won three
of those finals as well. These teams have also features in three
finals each.
In marked contrast, England, South Africa (even making allowance for
their first Cup being in 1992), New Zealand and West Indies have
featured in only one final after the Windies lost in the 1983 final to
India. Taking into account all world cups, these four teams have
managed six final appearances between them, winning two (WI in 1975
and 1979) and neither SA nor NZ have a world cup final to their credit
yet!!
Going by that, the much maligned and abused sub-continental teams have
done much better than the rest, Australia excepted.
Incidentally, if all you wanted to say was "Challenge to India", why
call it "sub-continental teams"? (Yeah, I confess I had to read the
whole post, only to realise most of it was recycled stuff).
