Not to mention the lack of atmosphere at the grounds even for matches
involving the home team. During the Champions Trophy some people were
complaining about lack of crowds for matches not involving India, but
here the crowds are thinner even for Windies matches. To think ICC
chose this place of all the places in the world to conduct world cup.
Holding it in the West Indies isn't the problem per se. The trouble starts
with constructing new stadia that are in the middle of nowhere and are not
the traditional city-based grounds to which fans have an emotional
attachment. Plus logistical problems associated with the grounds being new,
and most of all because the ticket prices are far too high for the majority
of locals.
