Clearly, this is below Bradman's standards. As someone mentioned,
bodyline was
banned after that series. But this is in line with my original point
that if he faced
the short-pitched bowling aimed at the body as in today's era not to
mention reverse-swing
something he never played and spinners on square turners, he would not
have
performed as well as he did in his career.

If you think that square turners are a modern invention, then you
really do have difficulty distinguishing between the gluteus maximus
and the humerus.

The bodyline field which meant that playing the hook was an incredible
risk in 1932-33 is no longer permitted, so Bradman would now find
playing the short stuff much easier than when facing Larwood.

Although Bodyline was outlawed much before the 70's,
I still wonder how Bradman would have faced an attack
like the WIPQ in their hey-day. Admittedly he did face
Larwood and Voce at their best, but facing 4 hostile
fast bowlers like Garner, Roberts, Holding and Croft
would have been a very interesting proposition even
for the *great* Don Bradman.

Reverse swing is a possibility for something he would find more
difficult than in his day, but in fact it would be rather interesting
to see how he would cope with conventional swing.

Agreed. But I think he would have spent hours at the nets
practising and would have come up with a novel method to
cope with reverse swing.

It's pretty unlikely that Bradman nowadays would be able to average
100. But were he one of today's cricketers, he would still have the
statrats drooling at how far ahead of everyone else he was.

Probably, he would have been 25-30 runs ahead of everyone
on the averages front. I think he would also have done very
well on the strike rate front, though not as fast in his scoring
rate as Gilchrist or Sehwag.
