I was looking at the cricinfo website recently when I came up to the
current test cricket ratings. I thought it may be an interesting practice
taking these ratings and putting the countries respective populations into
the equation to see who the true cricketing champs are per capita.
What I did was take the countries current test rating score, divided by
that countries current population (in millions) and multiplied by 100
Example... South Africa.
Current test rating 99, divided by
Population (millions) 44, muliplied by
100
225.
So according to my formula here is the current rankings in world cricket
based on population...
1) NZ 2,500
2) Australia 645
3) Sri Lanka 480
4) West Indies* 365 (based on an estimated population on 20 million)
5) South Africa 225
6) Zimbabawe 208
7) England 188
8) Pakistan 67
9) India 10
10) Bangladesh 3
Hail the true worlds best team - New Zealand!
