If he beats Taylor, he's a legend, period.
Vargas, Mosley, Trinidad and Taylor will all be HOF fighters. That's 4.
If Wright then goes on to beat eithier Sturm or Abraham, his legendary
status is cemented.
He has NEVER been stopped either and his resume of fighting top noth
fighters can't be questioned.
If he dominates Taylor, his stock goes way up in my book. He's already a
superstar as far as pure boxer goes. Is he exciting? Nope. However, neither
was Pernell Whitaker or Bernard Hopkins.
Winky Wright is good at everything he does and a win over a De La Hoya or a
re-match with Vargas will only boost his stock. His style would also give
Joe Calzaghe problems. His ackward fighting style and pretty good chin will
give any Jr. Middleweight in the history of the sport fits. That includes a
prime Terry Norris.
Who wins between Winky Wright or Roberto Duran when he was fighting at 160?
Good match up.

I dont think he will ever be thought of as a legend.
He just isnt that exciting and myself i find him tedious to watch.
Legend, no. He was too obscure, but to pundits, he will no doubt be an
all-time great.
My take is, Wright could very easily be undefeated, because his fights
with
Vasquez and Simon were questionable from what I hear. We know he beat
Vargas. He had little trouble from Trinidad or Mosley.
First undisputed Junior Middleweight I remember. If he beats Taylor will
be
universally recognized champ. Will probably beat Sturm or Calzaghe to
top
off his career, if he doesnt get Oscar.
No matter. If he wins or loses his next fight and either retires or
continues on for one more, he will be though of a fighter who did make
quite
an impact on the sport. There's really not a lot to dislike about him and
that should stand for something. He's got quite a record already and
beating Taylor would add a feather to it as well. Legend, no, not likely
but
I agree with you as one of the all-time greats. He's certainly had his
moments in the sun...
