I have understood or heard that there are tapes when Robinson fought at
Middleweight, however there is not a single tape oor film footage of
him fighting at a welterweight. What I want to know is how can people
say he was such a good welterweight if there was no footage to tell?
Now if I am wrong and there is footage let me know I would like to see
it.

Some of these fights have been shown on ESPNC (the Espn Classic) channel.
There was a recent 4-hour show with Bert Sugar where they features some of
the great fights and rivalries in boxing. They showed some of the
Robinson-LaMotta bouts where they mentioned that Sugar had to move up to
middleweight to fight Jake because he could not fight any good competition
in the welterweights. They fought 6 times and LaMotta won once. LaMotta
quotes as saying "I fought Sugar Ray so often, I almost got diabetes."

To get back to your query, I'm sure they've shown some of his welter fights
on ESPNC though I can't remember who he fought, probably because he
dominated so much, it was boring. Sugar's more compelling fights were
probably in the middleweight division.

Very little if any film of Robinson as a welterweight exists. On the
ESPNC broadcast this last Sunday, they only showed clips of the final
Robinson/LaMotta bout... The St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
