Exactly.
Who's to say that some of the world's top athletes aren't already
fighting in MMA? Most MMA fighters don't evolve from boxing; many have
strong backgrounds in wrestling, judo..,etc, where generations of
Mostclass athletes reside.
Boxing is more lucrative, so boxing attracts the better athletes.
That's why it's safe to say that world class professional boxers are
generally better athletes than world class MMA fighters.
I partially disagree. A boxing match is nothing like an MMA fight.
boxing.boxers are scared they will be humiliated in a real fight. That is
probably one reason we don't see more credible boxers in MMA. A good
MMA dude will not only train in *every* aspect of boxing, but they
generally include much more disciplined training, like muay thai,
wrestling, jiu-jitsu, etc. Besides, Vince Phillips, Frans Botha,
Butterbean, Ray Mercer & more have fought and lost in K-1. Frans has
been doing better though.

MMA "dudes" are nowhere near the level of a boxer when it comes to
"afraid"To suggest they somehow are is as ridiculous as saying a boxer is
of fighting.
Mr.Will
MMA fighters aren't as good at boxing as a boxer, I agree. They are
quite good though when you take into consideration all the other
components of MMA style fighting. Remember pro boxers Melton Bowen &
Art Jimmerson? Art was so terrified in the UFC that he couldn't even
land a single punch against Royce Gracie before simply giving up.
Bowen's boxing ability did nothing to hinder his ultimate defeat as
well. Art sure didn't appear scared when boxing though. Wonder why? They
weren't world class boxers, but they lost to less than stellar MMA
fighters. That's usually how it goes.
Fenris
I don't know either of those boxers.
The fact that they needed to go to MMA suggests the reason why.
Mr.Will
The fact remains, pro boxers have fought old-school MMA style matches,
losing almost all of them, and the trend hasn't shifted into this new
era of MMA fighting.
