Exactly.
Who's to say that some of the world's top athletes aren't already
fighting in MMA? Most MMA fighters don't evolve from boxing; many have
strong backgrounds in wrestling, judo..,etc, where generations of world
class athletes reside.
Boxing is more lucrative, so boxing attracts the better athletes.
That's why it's safe to say that world class professional boxers are
generally better athletes than world class MMA fighters.
I partially disagree. A boxing match is nothing like an MMA fight. Most
boxers are scared they will be humiliated in a real fight. That is
probably one reason we don't see more credible boxers in MMA. A good
MMA dude will not only train in *every* aspect of boxing, but they
generally include much more disciplined training, like muay thai,
wrestling, jiu-jitsu, etc. Besides, Vince Phillips, Frans Botha,
Butterbean, Ray Mercer & more have fought and lost in K-1. Frans has
been doing better though.

MMA "dudes" are nowhere near the level of a boxer when it comes to boxing.
To suggest they somehow are is as ridiculous as saying a boxer is "afraid"
of fighting.
