Re: WHY?

Agreed. If you're looking for PC discussion, usenet is DEFINITELY NOT the
place! However, as previously noted, although it's constitutionally legal
(though not necessarily good etiquette) for anyone to spout off any opinion
or thought they might have in a usenet group, there's no law that says you
have to LISTEN/ READ/ DOWNLOAD!

Kim (KW), I see that you are using Outlook Express (OE) over Giganews as
your newsgroup reader. That is currently my own set-up (except Comcast
dumped Giganews in favor of its own news server). Although there are far
better newsreaders than OE, I have found that OE has adequate
filtering/blocking capabilities to keep you from seeing/downloading nearly
all posts by these flamers.

If you have been on rsb for a little while, you know who these recurrent
names are. The easiest way is to highlight one of their messages, click on
"Message" in the Main Menu, then click on "Block Sender" in the resultant
flydown menu. It will then ask you if you want to remove (delete) all
messages from this sender -- click on "OK" or "Yes" or whatever the
affirmative is.

Repeat this for all of the various flamers addresses and -- VOILA! -- rsb
will look like a quiet, civil, well-behaved newsgroup. You will find that
you really only have to block about 20 names or so -- you will pick them up
quickly as you go along and will have almost all of them within 3 days.
Block anything having to do with Fast/Fraud Larry Guninger/Grindinger, Debra
Li (Yappinwolf) and Eric Hu -- this immediately removes 98% of the problem.

Whatever you do, don't answer, acknowledge or in any other way get involved
in ANYTHING that has ANYTHING to do with ANY of these flame threads -- other
rsb posters will shortly began to think of you as a "baiter" and will then
use their newsreader filters on you, along with the flamers. If you then
ever came across with a valid question or post, no one would see your post
either and you would wind up with NO worthwhile response.

Your question "Why?" is a good and acceptable post to this newsgroup. But
remember, acceptability is determined by the INDIVIDUAL READER, himself, and
NOT the PC crowd! That is why OE has filtering capabilities -- this is what
the expressions you will see in this and other newsgroups like "Plonk,"
"Killfile" and "Bitbucket" are all about. So, just learn how to use OE's
Message Rules and sender blocking features.

Then, hang around here for a while and you'll start seeing the stuff you
want to see.

Keep the faith,
