This brings to mind something pointed out in one of the current DaVinci Code
spawns, in discussing the origins of the bible: ancient Greek had neither
capitalization nor punctuation, so the translation of a sentence such as
"godisnowhere" was somewhat arbitrary.

True, but so many fewer people were literate back then that the written language was mainly used to simply record spoken language, and then read out to the masses by the few people who could read them. The nuances of punctuation and capitalization were inserted by these people based on a knowledge of the content and expert training in the language. Hebrew is like this too, the traditional ancient form lacks accents and punctuation and is still used during the religious ceremonies which require expert study to read correctly, but modern variants have been created to add these niceties for every day use.

And Hamster, being Root on the Email server means if any of the (l)users piss me off too much I can simply login to their account and fire off an angry resignation letter to their boss faster than they can say "AOL".
