He either gets extra credit as a starter because he moved to the bullpen, or
he gets credit for being a good closer. He can't get credit for both. He
missed all of 2000 with an injury, should we give him bonus points for that
season too?

We don't know that. All those extra innings may have finished him off as
well. Even if we give him credit as a starter for those years, he's still
only around 230 wins, not 250. To be at 250, he would have to average 18
wins per season from '01-'04. He's only won 18 games once in his entire
career.
At 230 wins, with no closer time, he'd be 3-4 good to great seasons from
Cooperstown. Kind of like he is now.
