Hello, Dave.

You do not say what type of bow you have?
The riser seems quite a bit heavier comparing to 18# (which is AIM bullseye). It has taps for sight, plunger and stabilizer.
Could you please tell what brace height means in this case? The distance from string to the back of a shelf is 5", and 5.5" to grip.
Generally a recurve bow will have a brace height of between 8 and 91/2 inches depending on length and type.
By the way, when I strung it today this length seems to be a little bit larger then yesterday -- arrow fletching now does not touch the rest.
Your string is too long. It can be shortened by twisting the string. Usually 20 - 50 twists is normal - try it.
I tried 50 twists and got to 7" from string to arrowrest.
If it is still below 71/2 inches get a shorter string.
