because your country is not the only one involved
I didn't say it was, of course.
You said you were doing it for the rest of the world which is obviously incorrect as other countries are involved
But no other countries would be there if we weren't.
Tell us, how many troops did Australia send?
1500 at the start not sure about the level now but Obama wants us to send more
You must be STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, because the number currently deployed is all ove the internet.
You were down to 550, and lately up to 1000.
A more robust international commitment is needed for Afghanistan, but Australia is not planning to send more combat troops, the government says.
Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said today the government would take a new approach to Australia's involvement in Afghanistan, but that does not include any increased military commitment.
About 1,000 Australian soldiers are currently serving in the conflict-ravaged country, performing dangerous work. "We currently don't have in contemplation any increase of the numbers that we have," Mr Smith told ABC TV today.
He said the Australian forces in the troubled country were already substantial.<-------------------------------------<cough>
"They're in southern Afghanistan doing a lot of the heavy-duty and difficult and dangerous work so we don't have an increase of our combat troops in contemplation at this time."
(wanna guess how mant Australian casualties there are from all this "heavy-duty and difficult work?)
No comment here, of course.
Still no comment here.

Australian troops kill children, again
Tony Iltis
21 February 2009
Five children were shot dead by Australian troops on February 12, near the village of Sarmorghab in Oruzgan province.
A February 13 defence department statement admitted the children, and an undisclosed number of other civilians, were killed, along with a "suspected insurgent".

thankyou for all your research I couldn't be bothered
You don't know how.
We've got 55,000 over there now, and 30,000 more on the way.
Could you tell us anywhere that Australia has conducted unilateral peacekeeping or liberation elsewhere in the world?
Still waiting.
Still waiting.
East Timor well we got it going
Yeah, you do have a history of being the U.N.s' bitch.
Have your kindergarten teacher look up the word "unilateral" for you (we'll take that as a "no", of course).
But since you -did- bring up East Timor, and since you're so opposed to intervention, and so frequently critique our efforts:
Why don't you tell us how many times your mighty forces have deployed to East Timor in the last ten years, with little or no effect?
No answer.
Still no answer.
Your country is the -last- government on earth to be giving advice in that arena.
Sorry where has the US acted unilaterally lately?
Oh, I dunno, Pakistan?
Libya?
Grenada?
Haiti? At least, before turning over.
Panama?
(Iran, probably)
Well done you have made the world a safer place
We know.
and contribute the largest troop deployment
And how many troops, pray tell, was that?
No answer.
Still no answer.
Your "largest deployment" East Timor -United Nations- mission?
Yep as it is in our backyard
Not doing very well, eh?
Free and fair elections wasn't that your definition of success
No, that was -your- definition of a "low bar".
Maybe three times will be a charm.
in Afganistan so you are not doing it for the rest of the world. You do realise there are other countries fighting the war don't you?
Or is it just your ignorance showing again?
no wrong again
A (free) election is more than anyone else ever accomplished.
well as long as you set your targets low you will succeed ( as the toothless budgie did )
I can see why your type would see free elections in a previous dictatorship as a "low bar".
The Taliban is not gone, most of the country is controlled by warlords, opium production is at record levels and not Kabul and the Government while making laws contrary to UN human rights conventions is kept in power be foreign troops.
No one said it would be quick or easy.
How long was your country subserviant to Great Britain?
Oh wait- it still is.
The Queen of England is still an intergral member of -both- your ruling bodies.
Is that fucked up, or what?
IMHO yes but it is a system that works well as our Head of State is powerless
So you're saying the unelected royalty of another country is still your head of state?
For the last 240 years or so?
No
That's not what you just said.
Australia hasn't been a country for the last 240 years
But has always been ruled by the Crown, since before it was even a country.
your ignorance is showing again
Cite.
Funny, or sad?
not true
Sure it is.
Pull any Australian coin out of your pocket, and tell us who's face is on it.
But you expect Iraq and Afganistan to be models of democracy after 5 years?
No disparity there.
No
Looks like you need an "irony meter" too.
used it showing 0
You must have been testing your IQ.
excellent comeback
Thanks.
All of this is of course better than the Taliban who were a bunch of pricks but success
You've pointed out many times that you're just as much of a Taliban supported as you were of Saddam Hussein.
You are correct for once as I supported neither
You've actively advocated for both as long as I've known you.
Comprehension problems from your pov. Just because i don't fully agree with your point of veiw doesn't mean I support the other side.
Sure you do.
You just said the Taliban was doing a better job.
English not your first language or do you just have comprehension problems?
That's hysterical coming from your poor grammar.
my grammar may be poor but my comprehension is fantastic. The opposite to you
Opinions vary.
But you're the STUPID, STUPID, STUPID one.
in a Western style is a long way away as can be seen from the history of the area over the ages. I hope that Afghanistan succeeds as a country
And we all know that you're to much of a coward to try.
been there done that however not in this conflict
You were never in the military.
really?
Really.
Like most Futilians, you never remember whatever other lies you've posted here in the past.
That's why your credibility is for ***.
Would love to see you prove this one but you won't because you can't
I don't have to.
than we will accept that you are a liar
As you have many times, with no evidence or cite.
That's why your credibility is for *** here.
you made a claim you can't back it up, I'll take your original statement as a lie.
Already been seconded.
Sorry, dude.
Thirded and forthed.
Even your buddy kennybenny thinks you're an idiot.
Oh no someone on Usenet who I will never meet and never know thinks I'm an idiot boo who
We already know how scared you are.
Of what
Life, as far as we can tell.
are there 2 of you typing now or are you channeling your lapdog as you type
Or your reputation precedes you.
