It's odd that all these do-gooder types jump on this particular
bandwagon while they ignore meat packing plants and fishing boats
where the treatment of the little critters is at least as gruesome and
violent as that given the seals.
I think what it comes down too is the hypocrisy. Enough said cause
you'll will never understand or see it
You may be right, but could you take a little try at explaining what

some people see nothing wrong in bludgeoning to death poor baby seals,
but have a *** fit when shown practices at meat packing companies or
fisheries.
There are others that think hunters who got out and kill an animal
(whatever it is) used it for food and clothing is horrid. But have no
problem sitting down to dinner consisting of the very same types of
food. Deer or not cute - they are destructive. I live basically in a
rural area. 68 of my farm ground is in corn or soybeans every year.
The deer in the area can wreak havoc on a large area of corn in very
short order. We have coyotes that we can shoot year round, they help
keep the deer population down.
Many that protest these very actions see no problem with pro-choice and
late term abortions. No one has to look far to see our liberal
legislatures attacking more gun rights/hunting areas,fees,and daily bag
limits, but doctors who perform abortions have no daily 'bag' limit'.
The same ones that fight hunting and gun rights are liberalizing the
conditions of abortion. A 13 year-old girl can walk into an abortion
clinic and get an abortion. A 13 year old boy can not go hunting
without gun safety and hunting training. Which procedure nearly always
guarantees a kill?-
So are you actually saying that all this concern for the seals is
misguided, or at least disproportionate, when there are more important
inhumane transgressions to be addressed?
Popeye speaks for the seals. Perhaps you should ask him why they're
more important than the things you mentioned.

of seals as okay while believing abortion is abhorrent or that the baby
seal killings as abhorrent, while justifying abortion-

Fair enough. So just out of curiosity, how do you feel about the way
they kill sheep, cattle and hogs in a slaughterhouse?

to be a complete hypocrite - I rather not know the details. I know that they are killed in the most efficient method available - which may not (I'm sure it isn't) be very humane. While I see the reports on the seal slaughter - it doesn't affect me much (isn't that a great answer) while Peta is a rather radical group - if it were up to them we wouldn't be even allowed to fish, certainly not hunt, I do believe in the ehtical treatment of some animals (I'm a bigot) I certainly don't believe in PETA.att (People for the Ethical Treatment of Attorneys (Sorry, Greg), I do find PETA.NET (People for Eating Tasty Animals)

A friend of mine has a butcher shop - he electrocutes the pigs - I have to put animals down by shooting them - I don't particularly like that either.



Well Joe, do you take the piglets, declare them "adult" after -three- weeks, stun then with a club, skin them alive, and throw away all the meat?

That's what Futile John gets with his "just like a slaughterhouse", and our resulting "hypocrisy".
