I disagree. As you said, it was never implemented, and I really doubt that
it could be done.


Today, we probably come closer to separate but equal than we ever did when
the concept was popular. Interestingly, it's the minority communities that
have withdrawn from the majority Anglo culture. Even more interestingly,
there's a rather obvious attempt by many members of the majority culture,
to
fit into the minority one. I don't know where it's all headed, but it's
particularly disturbing when the shift from majority to minority is
directed
at the least desirable element of the minority culture.

My counter to that argument would be that the constitutional privisions
regarding equal treatment has always meant the same thing - just took
awhile
for some folks to get in line with the constitution's meaning.

As much as I believe in and support the Constitution, I'm pretty sure that
the founding fathers' idea of equality was not the same as mine. I think

may've put into practice.

it's pretty clear that they did not include women and that they did
include
males younger than we include today. It's unclear whether they included
those of different races, colors and cultural backgrounds, but it's pretty
unlikely considering the treatment of the Indians that were living here
when
they arrived..
