I suspect that most of the people I know don't use weight-integrated BCs,

removing the weights is not as quick as just ditching a weight belt by
loosening a single buckle.

I was surprised to see on my last trip a bunch of people using weight
belts with integrated BCs. That really made me scratch my head. To
each his own, I guess.

Zeagle BCs have a ripcord-like device that is threaded into the bottom
of the weight pockets, allowing for one-pull weight drops. I hate it
and would much prefer there were no way to ditch the weights.
Ditching weights is dangerous.

On the other hand, I also know people who still dive with horsecollar BCs
and others who dive with no BCs at all.

There are a few nuts like that diving locally around here, but most of
my diving nowadays is travel diving, where you have to fly to the
destination. I guess the same divers that rely on modern conveniences
like airplanes also use modern conveniences to dive. Weight belts are
not modern conveniences.

Yep, and breathing directly from the tank valve can eliminate
regulator failure. Much simpler.

That would have been back when we were using the 1800 psi tanks. Or
perhaps the goat bladders.

I'm just glad they finally invented the mouthpiece. I always hated
sucking directly from the bladder using the built-in orifice.
