Reminds me of every experiment I did as an undergrad, and for that matter about 9 in every 10 experiments I've done in grad school. The only thing that changes is the cost of the equipment - in undergrad I "disproved" hundreds of years of science using a $10 microscope. These days I do it with a multi-million dollar microscope...
