detail on your background and history. For example, how old are you,
how much do you weight, how tall are you, how fast are your average
miles when you are running at race pace ... all this info might help
give some context.
I'm a healthy 20-year-old male, about 6'0'', 160 lbs... brown hair,
brown eyes, I like listening to music, holding hands, and taking long
walks on the beach...
Expecting some flak on ( some of ) response above from Miss Anne if no

I generally run at about 7 mph for either a half hour or an hour, and
it's steady all the way through, and I don't feel very strained (I'm
sure I could talk pretty easily if I tried) except at the end when I
(sometimes) run really hard, depending on how I'm feeling, to expend
any energy I have left, which is what I asked about. I try to run 6
times per week and usually succeed.
Thanks for the responses and apologies for the lack of clarity/
information.
Lots of advantages to being young and skinny!
For you ... now that I have some more info ... I would recommend
thinking about the following ...
Work on your base mileage every week first and think about getting to
the stage of running 30 to 40 ( or miles ) a week. Hey I am old and
put in 50 to 60 miles a week ... long term you might want to get up
there. As Ed noted above ... nothing wrong with LSD!
Try to work out some kind of schedule where you may run a little
"shorter" but harder at least 2 days a week ... at your age you can
tolerate some real times of making yourself hurt.
Eventually you might want to have 1 hard day a longer 30 min or 20 min
where you push as hard and long as you can ... plus a track workout
day ( hey eventually 2 days on track since you are so young and can
recover ) with shorter intervals miles / 800's / 400's.
If you need a day off after those hard days fine but if you can put in
real easy recovey runs after the hard days ... so much the better.
Most of all keep having fun running ... if you have fun you will keep
running!
