: I cringed reading that. Back in my High School days I had an ankle
: sprain that had the same pain you are describing, only I got mine
: playing basketball. 10 years later I did it again playing pickup ball.
: I learned that I have to be careful. I bought a brace to play in for
: the next year. I don't wear it anymore, but its in my bag just in
: case.
:
: back to my ankle. Unlike you I actually saw a doctor. He was a family
: friend, buddy of my dads. He said that I had possible partially
: ruptured a tendon on the outside of the ankle although he couldn't be
: 100% sure without some tests (which we didn't do). What I did was just
: did ice rubs on that spot for about 3 days, did some swimming to keep
: my fitness and stayed off it as much as possible. on the 4th day I had
: baseball practice. I took batting practice and then thought I would be
: done for the day, but found myself out in center field shagging fly
: balls while others batted. I was amazed that once it warmed up it
: didn't hurt that much. By day 10 I was back on the basketball court
: and playing shortstop for my Pony Baseball team.
:
: Maybe it wasn't as bad as yours or maybe it was because I was so young

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Because I'm 43, I'm going to be fairly
conservative at this point. If I have significant pain on Friday, I'll see
the doc and go from there. Like most of us would, I just want to get back
to running as soon as it is safe to do so.
