HAH! Speak for yourself! Most of my current crop of trainees have been historically an hour slower than me for a 50K. But this year they finally agreed to follow my advice on how to train for the upcoming "big" 50K. So naturally I'm recovering from my broken ankle so even keeping up with them now is a chore. And my ego certainly won't let them beat me when they aren't even trained. So this past Saturday we did a Bandito (non permitted) race of 28M. They were supposed to stay with me to learn about pacing but being young(er) whippersnappers, after 2M they were gone. Well, sure enough, by M20 I had reeled 'em all in and as punishment, I left 'em in the dust (well, mud in this case). I didn't beat 'em by an hour, but it was enough that they got the message :-)
