I wouldn't dismiss the Nano so fast. I've had mine a couple months and
have done a lot of running with it and love it. I think all the idiots
that damaged their were fools that thought they could toss it in their
pocket with the spare change, car keys, etc -- like you can with a
Shuffle. Mine fits perfectly into the small zippered pocket on the upper
arm of my fleece top.
The one downside: Those touch-sensitive controls don't operate so well
when your hands are covered in gloves, making it hard to switch albums or
tracks on the run. Otherwise, it's excellent to have a huge amount of
music available (disclaimer: before anyone launches into the don't-run-
with-music tirade, I'm an advocated of having it just loud enough to hear
it, and low enough that I can hear the traffic and goings-on around me).
