sore shins

I took ten days off running due to a anterior tendon and muscle issue
on my left leg. That pain (injury) is gone. But now after 3 days back
the muscles on the osutside of both shins are sore but not a injured
type of pain.
I really haven't been doing anything different, new shoes, change in
stride, etc.
I'm trying to track down the cause, the only thing I can think of is a
lot more biking this Summer due to heat and then injury. Anybody else
experience anything like this?
Two side notes:
Congrats to Tony S. and Doug F. for their Vermont 50 performances.
Just got the Running Times, great article/interview with Nikki
Kimball.
I remember her running and winning the Prospect Mt. race in Lake George
(which is getting a lot of unfortunate publicity due to the boating
accident on Sunday).
I remember my wife and I talking after "Who is this woman and how can
she run uphill that damn fast?"
.
