I just received the new boards. I did an updated revision of the board layout, in order to minimize the input capacitance. Paul sent me a completely built board and a blank one. Just to check the integrity of the board layout, I used an MMBR941 device as the emitter follower............no problems with instability were evident, either with a spectrum analyzer or in actual use. This device has an Ft of 6GHz, so I will conclude that the board layout has good integrity.Pete, do you mind if i cut and paste this to the Palstar group
I also ran Paul's board through its paces. It looks like it is going to be a good product. Projected production date will be sometime in August.
Right now, Paul is having the metalwork done for the final enclosure. Once I get ahold of this prototype unit, I will wind a few more antennas and give him the coil winding data.
This should be a pretty good looking unit. If anybody is going to be at the SWLs' gathering at Oak Creek, Wisconsin on August 15th, I will have one of the prototypes up there. It should be a good time.
