I think the only way for IBAC to succeed is for the government to
outlaw analog and force the public to replace all of their devices.
I can easily see the FCC, friend of industry, doing this so as to
benefit their good friends at Ibiquity and their investors (their
good friends at the big radio conglomerates) as well the
manufacturers of the devices. I can hear the argument
already..."Gee, we didn't forsee (translation: chose to ignore) the
problems of analog and digital co- existing. We don't want the
public to suffer with this interference problem anymore. In the
public interest, we feel it is best to go to one format...digital."
The losers are citizens and general and smaller station owners that
have no interest in this useless technology. But remember - they
don't count.
I hope the public votes no on this scam and it would be wonderful if
Ibiquity suffered massive financial losses as a result.
I think that was the original idea behind IBOC was to give people a
chance to accept digital or not. Unfortunately the digital signal
impacts analog reception. Then some evil people who had their wagon
hitched to this piece of crap engineering marvel decided it was in their
best interest to foist it upon the public and so here we are.
