DE,
IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS :
With a a Few Hundred AM/MW Radio Stations around the
Nation using IBOC the general background Hash will be
low -but- Very noticeable if you are in a local area with an
IBOC Radio Station adjacent to a Distant Radio Station
that becomes difficult or impossible to hear clearly.
IN THE NEXT 5 TO 10 YEARS :
Next with One to Two Thousand AM/MW Radio Stations
spread across the Nation using IBOC the general back
ground Hash will be High -and- Very noticeable if you are
in a local area with several IBOC Radio Stations and most
adjacent channel "Distant" Radio Station become difficult
or impossible to hear clearly.
IN THE NEXT 15 TO 20 YEARS :
Then with Several Thousand AM/MW Radio Stations
completely covering the Nation using IBOC the general
background Hash will be Extremely High -and- Very
Pronounced and AM/MW Radio Listening will limited to
the Local Broadcast Area : Listening to "Distant" Radio
Stations will have become impossible.

One again, imperical, real life data trumps your articles. Grow up.
Here, you and I agree. While we don't on the service stations render to
listeners outside their primary market, it is a definite that HD does pretty
much eliminate the ability to listen to first and second adjacent channels,
whether on AM or FM.
This guy who claims that AM DX will not suffer has obviously been doing too
much reading and not enough listening. And he is pretty obviously not an AM
DXer, or he would have noticed what HD does as well as read about it in AM
DX groups and publications.
Instead, he posts that there is no LOCAL interference between WLW and WOR.
Of course there is not... they are 500 miles apart, and WOR is directional
away from WLW. The issue is what the local implementation of HD will do to
the band at whatever place a particular DXer is located, not whether two
adjacent channel stations in HD interfere 500 miles from each other.
