Really easy. Get a radio with at least a mono audio out jack.
Get an RCA (double male) and run it to the audio in jack on your VCR.
Use a standard stereo pair if you have stereo jacks on both units. a
Y-adapter may be helpful if only one unit is stereo.
Tune the radio to the station you want to record, turn the
volume down if you want, then set the VCR to record right away or
program it to turn on later as desired. I often do this when I will be
out of the house and want to tape a series of music programs.
By the way, if you set the VCR to its lowest speed and get
T-160 tapes instead of T-120 tapes, you can record up to eight hours
of programming. You may want to use a higher speed if the material and
your ears warrant.
On playback, you'll probably just get a bluescreen for the
video.
Finally, I've not ever had to do anything about the audio
level. Since the out audio is taken off before the volume control, it
doesn't matter whether you leave the volume up or down.
