Way back when in the stone age of CB radio I had a set of Midland
handheld tranceivers and they were very good. Cost my Dad a heap of
cash back then because they had a 3 mile range! Wow! :) Wish I
still had them but like loads of other things from that era, Barbie
dolls, etc... they were sold at a yard sale when I outgrew them.

I didn't see his initial post for the assistance - to start with. When
seeing the one of not getting any replies, I figured I'd "try" to offer
"some" sort of help. Not being familiar with the unit, the help was basic at
best. It doesn't matter if an answer is the right one - no one answer always
falls into that category. The fact is, you "offer" to help in however you
can. It is up to the poster to accept it or reject it - try it or not. If
he - owning the unit - knows full well a suggestion can't work or has
already been tried, then move on to the next.

You managed to get what appears to be the best of help to him - so the
credit goes to you.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the radios and so on. My dad bought us a
set of walkie talkies - 3 channel jobs - and at that time - my parents were
coerced into CB by some aunts and uncles. I had already had a knack for
electronics, tearing things apart - etc. Well, that first set of walkie
talkies - combined with the CB thingy going - was my opening. I wasn't
satisfied with the range - so I started experimenting and finding my work -
to be making some progress - though I was still dumb as a stump when it come
to electronics. So - I then went and bought a bunch of books from money from
cutting grass and doing all sorts of errands, chores, etc. Started learning
on my own - til I got into High School - for a "formal" shop class - and
went on from there. I wish I still had those walkie talkies for sentimental
reasons alone.
