I believe that it was this great love that drove this group to the sad
state of affairs that we see today. On one side the passion from those
who learned to appreciate the efforts required to learn the Morse code
and take the six levels of testing, and on the other side, those who
wanted a license with less effort for some reason or another.  They
were successful in their efforts and the end results are yet to be
determined, is the ARS any better who knows?  Nevertheless, during the
debate of code vs. no code, personal hatred began to fester on this
group which set off the path to where we are today as a group, as
hams, and as individuals.

As I perused the net today, I see a trend that is even less
flattering, a few of the newsgroups severs have stopped archiving RRAP
altogether, due to the amount of wasted bandwidth, and infighting that
has continued.

sad I agree although i had observed the archive bt , in this case I
will take your word since it seems reasoableaftr all

As you can see from this off site radio newsgroup server, the last
archive occurred on September 6, 2008, yet the other RRA groups are up
to date.

Recently, I received email concerning the situation on RRAP that asked
something very simple but profound; "How do you see yourself in 3, 5,
7, or even 10 years?  As a productive ham enjoying the hobby or
someone who has relegated themselves to arguing over a tiny almost
ignored space on the World Wide Web, with persons that you have got to
know by now, for whatever reason, mental or otherwise, are unable or
unwilling to stop their behavior.

I received the emaill after my email addy was frogged by you (this is
not an attack just a statement of fact). However, the email along with
several others that I had received, had enough of a profound effect to
get me to reflect about the whole situation.


As I pondered this question, it really became apparent to me of how
wasteful and idiotic this whole mess has become, how I have slowly
lowered myself and my standards to his elementary level, and frankly
no matter what I do or say will ever change this situation.

Mark, last year I stopped posting for a period of time (6 months +),
nothing changed. The fire you speak of is not feed by me, but from
within those individual posters who are feeding off and instigating
this situaton. You once said that I "can not uninspire other peoples
attacks" I believe that in fact you were correct.


Therefore, I believe that I will be the better person, the better ham,
and put the first foot forward in an attempt to end this dispute, or
at least to the degree that I keep it going.  I encourage others to
follow.

So I ask, how do you see yourself in a few years?  Imbedded in this
ridiculous dispute, or perhaps posting to the group about a policy
issue and happily ignoring the lunatic fringe?

Well IMO, the flooding is not solving the issue and you may want to
consider changing tactics...the flooding enmass is feeding the trolls
and instigators in this mess, and as long as that approch is taken, it
is my opiniont that RRAP will contine to be a mess for a very very
long time.

Nevertheless, I have spoken my peace. I publicaly apologize to you
and your wife if my posting on usenet or nim offended either of you.
However, I can only apologize for what I have done, and not for any
acts or forgeries that may have occurred in my nym by others. I have
never hacked any accounts concerning your credit cards, sent any
direct emails or messages to you other than to give you a domain name,
made any phone calls about you, to you, or sent any emails to anyone
about you.

I wish you well as I prepare to move on and away from this situation.
I will soon delete all accounts associated with this nym and flush it
permenatly away. I hope everyone on here can please consider to start
anew so there can be a useful policy newsgroup again, one that is not
a blimish to the ARS.
