Your half-vast research has nailed you again, Len. You got it flat wrong. Just
pure and simple mistaken, Len.

Each ENLISTMENT results in a new DD214. I have one four, even though I had no
breaks in service (did not "go into civilian life, then rejoin again"). Block
11c on the earlier ones, block 9c on later one are captioned "Reason and
Authority". In each case (except the last one) that block contains the reason
"To immediately reenlist."

In each case the reenlistment was "PRIOR to ending the contracted term" of the
previous "hitch".

No "forgery".... no broken service.... no gun-decking..... no transfer to
another service, yet I have four DD214's and two DD215's, all carrying the
official embossed seal of NARA.
