You could try sticking a bit of aluminium (aluminum) foil to the card from
a cereal packet. Fold the cardboard to form a right angle and stand it
with the folded edge vertical near to the antenna to form a reflector.
Adjust for best signal strength. For a 6 inch antenna, the card only needs
to be the size of an A4 *** of paper, around 8 inches by 12 inches. Fold
in half so that you have two surfaces at 90 degrees to each other, 8
inches by 6 inches.

I saw this post this afternoon and tried it at the office. Works great, I
can get into the free wifi from the airport. I just taped a piece of
aluminum foil to the wall in a corner and set my USB wifi transceiver in
front of it. Took about 5 minutes to rig up. Unfortunately I can only use it
in the evenings as there is too much ground traffic between my location and
the WIFI source the rest of the day.
