Yes, There is no reason that a person cannot try things and do it safely.
But when a clown is trying to impress his friends by a limited amount of
pyrotechnic experience, That's when the trouble starts.

First an ex-junkie wife, a 4 year old that he was trying to get, alcoholic,
and mixing fireworks is a combination nobody needs.

If he cared so much about his 4 year old daughter-he wouldn't have been
doing anything a DA would nail his ASS.

First, at least he didn't hurt anybody. Second, he didn't hurt himself(maybe
he crapped himself). So, luckly he didn't get anything more than a slap in
the hand and told to stay away or they would bring up charges.

Hey Brian,
I sit here feeling great pain (teeth and shoulder) and feeling my age.
I hope you are doing better . . .

Tom,

That's probably as fitting an end to his pyrotechnic adventures as he
could have hoped for. Better the feds at the door than the medical
examiner.

Here's hoping he's discovered a well-grounded center and a measure of
peace ... and a quieter hobby.

Doug,

Everything you say is true even as the particulars of Brian's short
stay here betrayed a person bent on self-destruction. Deserved or not,
the guy was carrying a lot on his plate and the fact remains: under
pressure, some folks perform at their best; and others? They collapse.

Every new half-assed "pyro" device he described here on this NG was
like a fresh bid: "I dare fate to finish it." And the more posters
warned him away, the more driven he appeared to be to up the ante. To
this day, there remains a picture of Brian, on pyrobin, his skull
freshly split, the aftermath of a booze soaked altercation. To my eye,
the very image of someone whose lost his way ... the very image of
someone seeking the oblivion of an end.

Here's hoping he's outgrown it all and put some of the pieces back
together again.

Tom C.

What he did is;Fill an oxygen tank with black powder and buried it ,he
wanted to make a giant fountain, it left a four foot deep by eight
foot hole, anyone who disregards safety to that extreme deserves what
he gets.
