Bob,
Have you checked r.c.j yet today? Look at topic "OT Looking for SF Bob ( And Peter too)" or similar. Peter addressed the header forging problem quite well as it relates to r.c.j which should also give you enough information to know why a moderated rec.pyrotechnics free of any spam and forgeries is a pipe-dream.

Dave, maybe some of the readers to this newsgroup are newbies, but the
simply fact is that anything posed on a moderated newsgroup must be
first approved for posting by the newsgroup's moderators. As a result,
spamming or splonging is never seen on these newsgroups.

Don:
Are you sure that made it into the newsgroup, or did you assume it did
because it was addressed to the group? Peter Rowe, the moderator for
rec.crafts.jewelry does a beyond-excellent job moderating that group
-- it is VERY rare that anything besides genuine posts make it into
the group distribution. About the only exception is when he takes his
annual vacation and leaves the software on "autopilot" -- then you do
see a few. But at least 50 weeks a year, that newsgroup is
essentially spam and sporge free.
I read it every day.

Morning Bob,
Yes. I am sure it made it to the group. That is where I cut it from. That isn't the only one that made it either. If you know Peter, or read the group regularly, you will know that Peter has commented on the posts that slip in with forged "approval" headers. That group, rec.crafts.jewelry, is one of my regular hangouts. In real life I am a Mining Engineer specializing in Explosives Engineering and am an independent consultant at several medium to small mines. One natural offshoot of the Mining business is that when there are good stones found or good deals made on certain metals one tends to take up jewelry making as a hobby that sometimes is added to your business license. In that case one may hang out on a newsgroup that suits ones hobby interests as well as ones professional interests. I like guns as well so I sometimes read "rec.guns. ( another moderated group that gets the forged approval messages ).
P.S. You are forgetting Frosty, so no "autopilot" and, Say hi to Abrasha for me. hehehe
