Re: pyro golf?

I flunked spelling.

Thanks for the feedback.

Lloyd,

I'm still having problems with my mill. It's 6 inch dia & I think the
media is too large. I'm thinking of mixing half inch dia lead media
in with the 1.5 inch thats already in it.

What size and how much media tdo you recommend for a 1 gal 6 inch dia
jar?

The results of a sample (after 4 hours milling) 2 grams move a gold
ball 3 feet. I've done a lot better in a hobby tumbler.

6" jar works very nicely with 1/2" to 3/4" media. The jar should be
exactly 1/2 full of media, and to that add exactly 25% of the jar's empty
volume of powder to be ground.

But I'm not certain that's your problem. Gold is damned heavy! Do you
know how much powder it would take to properly launch a gold ball 1.6" in
diameter?

I guess you have money to burn (you are an amateur pyro, after all), but
remember that occasionally the ball gets lost in these experiments. Can
you really afford to lose seven Troy ounces of gold?
