Bring this back to the top. I can't believe with all of the

and the ability I would devote some effort into doing this.
We can put a rocket on the moon, and make noise as loud as
thunder, yet we cannot stop THIS?

Can't say that I didn't warn you guys about this possibility,

go pout about it. Now, if anyone is seriously interested in a
discourse on pyrotechnics, let them now speak or forever keep
quiet.
Sadly, the spambot will go on doing its thing to this newsgroup
until the spambot is shut down (which takes an expert hacker to
do), or else the newsgroup will simply become history.
Evidently, Google has given up on this newsgroup, although on
Usenet it may continue to exist until the powers that be will
wipe it from existance.
I'm really surprised that anyone would take this newsgroup so
seriously, as to make an effort to cause it to be shut down.
Still, sociopaths exist, and some know how to both use and
abuse the internet. Why they would have a specific grudge
against rec.pyrotechnics is anyone's guess.

Granted, this all is an unholy pain in the ass, but questions still
get asked and answered. Takes a little work to relocate the posts,
but they ARE there.
Don't forget that many have the ability to filter the crap out.
The truly interested members are still slugging it out, despite the
best (worst?) efforts of those who would silence us.
And the world keeps on turning...

Jasper, have to attempted to compute the signal/noise ratio?
My suggestion is that we move all discussion of pyrotechnics to
sci.energy.hydrogen. A great many kooks dwell there, but most of them
are not malicious.

Harry, if we were to "move" anywhere, the logical site woulfd be
Advanced Pyrotechnics. Some who post here also post there already.
To bust in on another site like sci.energy.hydrogen or any other site,
would be similar to what's being done to us- unwanted, off-topic
traffic. You may deem them "kooks" over there, but I'm betting there's
some legit discussion, too. Just bad form, old son.
Like Mike said, why is it that the problem cannot be dealt with?
Google owes it to us to get to the bottom of this, I believe.
But, my guess is that anyone who hasn't the ways or means to filter
this out is in the minority. All that's needed is an alternate news
reader, I've been led to believe.
What might help is detailed enough instructions on how this can be
done, so that the computer challenged who are not filtering it out,
can.
Harry, not to be rude, but aren't you supposed to be up on computer-
related topics? Why in hell aren't you filtering this out already?
Jasper
Speaking of which,
Anyone using Xnews find a way to filter this stuff??

Putt, in simlified terms your could not describe this as mu foremost
priority..
As I ourlined previously, this type of attack is a vulnatility of the
classic Internet.
Everyone claims to have an answer to filtration, but no one seems to
describe what that filter is.
My current filter is quite simple. I post a pointer to the threads
that the better known regular here a posting to. I realize that this
is a no-brainer, but what the heck! You, for example have been mostly
posting to threads on misc.news.internet.discuss, with occasional
posts on rec.pyrotecnics. Google is both a blessing and a curse. If
you check my posting history, most of the recent posts have focused on
the BRAIN FRY physics probmems that I post on sci physice for the
benefit of undergraduate physics studentshoping to survive their first
year in college.
As I said above, Google is both a blessing and a curse! :-)
Putt, if you want to see sparks really fly, go and read the thread
BRAIN FRY #1. It actually quoted the exact word of a probldem in 3rd
year physics text, and as a result. several readers of that newsgroup
wanted to 'cut me a new one'. Go figure that one out! I may have a
bizarre sense of humor, but I consider anyone that flames me for
simply posting a well know textbook problem to have some sort of
mental disorder. else is a total idiot. If you check on my posting
history, you too can link onto and comment on that thread.
Recently I've posted BRAIN FRY #2. which is a somewhat trivial problem
at the Physics 101 level. I'm curious to see if that will generate as
many flames.
I post honestly, which is evidently a rarity today on Usenet
newsgroups.
