Huh? What the heck? Is this written in code or something? I can't

Delta,

This appears to be some extracts from a very old work on pyrotechnics
(approx 1634, Is that right Harry?). Hence the different language to
what you might be used to.

Steve, although you're a little early with the date, it's a quote
from Robert Howlett's "The School of Recreation (1696 edition),
Or a Guide to the Most Ingenious Exercises of Hunting, Riding, Racing,
Fireworks, Military Discipline, The Science of Defence".

The entire text is archived in plain text format at Project
Gutenberg's website and may be found at this link:

http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/17727

For what it's worth, regular readers of rec.pyrotechnics may remember
me posting this link on the newsgroup a year or two ago.
Sadly, many of today's readers don't seem to be aware of Project
Gutenberg, even though it is arguably the largest on-line classic text
archive on earth and a primary source for copyright free literature in
the format of ebooks. For those not already familiar with it, I would
urge a visit. It has a very interesting history in itself since its
founding in 1971.

Be a little wary of visiting this website, because it poses the same
hazard for many of us as visiting a large library. You plan to stay
half and hour or so doing some specific research, and end up spending
many hours, days, or even years when one thing after another captures
your interest. It's addictive!
