I won't say that I read or understood every word, but I read the
report.
As mentioned the highest sample was taken very near the fireworks
site, probably directly in the fallout area. The highest sample was
less then half of the amount known to cause a reaction in fish after
thirty days. The sample was only near that "high" level for about one
day! It then quickly drops off. After about four days it is very
near the beginning level. They mention it takes 20-80 days to reach
the starting level, which is technically true. However the level is
so close to the start level after just four days that to me it is
insignificant. It also only got to that level 1 shoot out of four and
it was mentioned that significantly more fireworks were used that
year. It is also a very small "lake", I would probably say pond, and
I'm guessing fairly stagnant. In a river or a lake with good
distribution I would expect you will never see those numbers due to
dilution and movement.
Also if this is a big deal why did they pick this lake and why was
more then one lake not tested? It would seem to me that this
particular lake gave them the best chance to see the results that they
wanted to. JMHO
It was interesting and educational, albeit inconclusive, to me.
