Mike, it just may be that I sometimes post a controversial viewpoint
or two, usually when I am bored...sometimes just to irritate the"Me"
generation. At other times it is done just to keep the newsgroup alive
during those intervals during which there are few interesting pyro
related posts just to stimulate activity in the newsgroup just to keep
interest and posting alive (good or bad, it's a newsgroup posting
activity that determines a newsgroup's future.)
Mike, although I once did professional writing (Wall Street analytical
reports and technical papers), my writing skills are nothing compared
to a real professional like Mike Swisher. What you read in my posts
are pure "stream of consciousness" things, posted in real-time on the
spur of the moment without proof reading, spell and grammar checking,
or going through a number of drafts. This sometimes bothers the
purists here, but to me the newsgroups are similar to a street corner
conversation among friends. Sometimes this involves into what is know
as "busting each other's balls"...again this offends some people...but
using another common phrase "If you can't take the heat, stay out of
the kitchen."
When I get paid to write professionally, I usually go through at least
three drafts. Often maybe six, plus running the text through both
spelling and grammar checker programs, then a literacy level
evaluation. Writing for Wall Street and the financial community is
easy, since it only requires a 9th grade literacy level, while writing
a technical or scientific paper requires you to write at a second year
of college level. Still, writing for Wall Street pays better! Go
figure! :-)
As an aside, when writing for Wall Street, your spin on a subject
becomes far more important than its precise accuracy, but when writing
a scientific paper there is no spin at all (at least there is not
supposed to be), and every fact stated is triple checked.
That's why I post as I do, in a "stream of conscousness" style, sans
spelling and grammar checks.
If you're not bored already with this post, something is wrong. Still
it hopefully contributed to the posted 'character count' of
rec.pyrotechnics, which helps to keep the newsgroup from being
'munged' from the Big 8 newsgroup hierarchy by the "cabal" that
watches over the newsgroups.

p.s., Remember, this is Memorial Day weekend. Be sure to fly the flag,
and give thought to what Memorial Day is all about. On Monday, the
protocol is to fly the flag at half-staff until noon, and then raise
it for the balance of the day. This shows respect for those who gave
their lives for our country, plus how proud we are of the USA.

Very well put Harry. If I had the time I would post more than a mere
sentence or two. It is quite an art to be able to write the way you
do. As always I enjoy "most" of your posts. However you do seem to

Who are these idiots that are tarnishing this group?
Many of us are trying to balance our lives and get things ready for
the season, but there has been a clear lack of quality material
lately. Swisher has not posted, Lloyd has acted out of character, is
it because of the morons that have plagued us?
I sure hope things change.
