Re: To the good men of this forum

Tom, you write beautifully, but as is the case with most salesmen, you
say nothing using many words, and still lack any element of sincerity.

Rec.pyrotechnics has served its purpose. Today that purpose might be
better served by a Google Group. So being an orginal sponsor of the
group, I have absolutely no hesitation in helping to pull the plug.

You may not like my metaphysics, still I learned them at the same
fountain as did you, Eastman Kodak. Looking back on it, it was founded
by bank clerk that was both a thief and a demonstrated hypocrite. This
is precisely why Kodak has for years resisted the publication of a
factual book documenting its history. Remember Kodak...Mother Yellow.
Actually, the yonger guys who worked there called it "Mother Brown"
because George Eastman's bizarre recreational activities, but that is
another story for another time.

Tom, if you have a problem with any of my posts, it might be better to
take it up with me by email. Right now several of us here are more
concerned with trying to get some financial support to Tad's family. I
am sure that you will want to do you part as well.

Yours is an impoverished metaphysics Harry ... and it's a poverty that
is particularly telling just now. By all means, rail at the Lord, at
the church, at your fellow man, on and on ... it doesn't really help
though does it? Alone, there's no shaking that emptiness once it takes
hold.

Will you be surprised or merely disappointed when others decline to
join you in the dissolution of rec.pyro?

You're less a curmudgeon than a misanthrope Harry and the man you
loath the most is likely to be, at the end of any given day, yourself.

At your age Harry it's past time that you sought help for yourself and
your often tormented spirit.

Had I listened to Grammy's wisdom, I would have been a tennant farmer
in New Jersey. Unfortunately, I came under the corruptive influences
of a science teacher, and became a physicist/engineer.

I have contibuted to the design of nuclear weapons that take lives,
and railway control and signaling system that save lives, plus
incredible fireworks that have given pleasure to many.

Today I have faith in the Lord, but my lord and your's might be
totally different, I consider the Bible to be folklore crap. Still, I
try not to advertise it. I consider churches to be great meeting
places, and for the young folks a safe place to meet someone, maybe to
get laid and possibly married if the sex is good.

Although a dedicated Repulican and conservative, I believe that George
W. Bush is an idiot. I believe that global warming is a total con job
on the public. I believe that the Moslem regligon is a pox on humanity
as historically demonstrated. I also believe that there is a solemn
obligation for each of us to share whatever knowledge we have (which
has been given to each of us by the previous generation, to share it
with others. Our generation is fortunate to have stood on the
shoulder of giants, so let us not forget that fact.)

Kids in their 20's believe that they will live forever, but when they
hit their 60's and realize that everyone that they were close to is
alrady dead, then mortality suddely hits them in the face an then they
panic. Tad's death hit me that way, although I pretend that I am
bullet proof. Tad, in his 50's, died much too young. and terribly
painfully.

Still, what is particularly sad to me is the community reaction to
Tad's death. It is why I employed the "South Park" analogy. I had
exoected much more empathy, but saw little. What I saw was a sequence
of wisecracks.

When we created rec.pyrotechnics , the intent was to have a place for
the responsible and mature pyros to post. A survey of the post
received recently shows the reult.

I am going to motion for the disolution of rec.pyrotechnic.

Votes in oppositon know where they should be submittted.

Curmudgonaly, Harry C.

OK, that is why I am proud to be called a curmudeon.

1 "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be
seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in
heaven.

2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as
the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored
by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

3 "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what
your right hand is doing,so that your giving may be in secret.

4 "Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

So -that- is where gramma's words of wisdom came from. I should have
guessed before now I think. She never made word for word quotes, she mostly
extracted the meaning and told us that was the polite thing for folks to do.
