Just something I thought I'd pass along regarding the "Chrysanthemum 6"
and "Chrysanthemum 8" Shimizu charcoal streamer mixes when ball milled.
Using a very efficient mill (I made mine exactly as Lloyd S. designed
and featured in his book using 29# of .69 cal. lead balls in a 1
gallon, 6" jar) Chrysanthemum 6 becomes so fast burning using pine
charcoal that it is nearly fast enough burning for lift powder for
large shells.
That is my experience, too.
I guess that is why Shimizu said to combine it by wetting. Funny, but
in this case it is easier to make it with an inefficient mill (rock
tumbler type) - just run the tumbler for an hour to make it all
homogenous and you have it.
