Mark, any clue is why registration is required in order to post on theHarry,

shouldn't the material content of the submited post be sufficient?
Don't know about you, but after well beyond 10 years on the net, I have
become justifiable suspicious of any site that requires registration in
order to participate. Some of these simply want to harvest your email
address to sell to spammers, others try to collect more in-depth
information to perpetrate outright fraud. My suggestion to newbies is
to never register on any site that requires other than your name and
posting handle. If they require any other information, be very
suspicious, since 9 out of 10 times their purpose will be to
rip-you-off in some way.
Sorry, but these scammers and fraids really piss me off. After all,
don't these 'slick dudes' posting this nonsences have mothers, or
families. How would they feel about ripping off 'grannie' with one of
their scams?

I am involved in the development of subject website, so I can answer your
questions. The reason an email is required, along with acknowledgement
of a disclaimer, is to *prevent* automated crawler bots from copying
information from the forum section. The email used to register is 'blind'
, not viewable to anyone, including administrators, unless you choose to
display it. If a forum member wished to email you, It is used to send you
an activation link that you must click to activate access. The disclaimer
is there to point out certain risks of working with fireworks, and
(attempt) to filter out kids under 16. 16 was arbitrarily chosen, I would
have preferred 18, but some 16 and 17 year olds have convinced me they are
serious amateurs, not into 'kewl' activities, etc.
There are no commercial purposes whatsoever behind the site.
