As I recall the original Estes smoke delay used realgar. 5/3/2 iirc. Great
smoke trail, long burn time per unit of length. I've used that before, but
it's a shame to waste precious, hard-to-come-by realgar for that.

I don't have the Estes model rocket engine delay (tracking) formulation
handy but as I remember, it was formulated with more sulfur than the
75/15/10 for the thrust charge. The charcoal and sulfur percentage was
either equal ( 70/15/15) or the sulfur was a bit larger percentage than
coal (67/15/18). I'll try to find it. It was close to some of the
visco fuse powders made by GOEX or DuPont.
