I did the same kind of thing myself."

Tom, at the time I was doing this works, embedded systems were largely
unknown, but I got into that field in a later phase of my professional
career. Sounds like you know your stuff. Lloyd is pretter expert in
this subject as well, although he rarely posts his credentials.

Realize that I post my credentials not to boast about any particular
accomplishments that I have made, but more or less to chide posters
into giving a bit more information about who they are and where they
are coming from. In a newsgroup that casually discusses things that can
easily kill or disfigure for life, posting anonymously has many
disadvantages, the least of which is that no one takes their post
seriously. There are many very bright people that post on this
newsgroup, but there are also a few clueless dorks who you can
recognize from their posts.

Hang around the newsgroup for a year or two, and you will quickly learn
who the posters are and where they are coming from. Some use pen names,
and others post under their real names. For example, fargow posts under
a pen name, but regulars now that his real name is Tom, same as tes.
Both Lloyd S. and Mike S. post using their real names, which lends some
sense of credibility to their posts. I personally prefer dealing with
people that I both know their real names and experience, but that is
simply my thing, since I don't consider the Internet to be a
playground, but a valuable resource for sharing experience and
knowledge.

As for me, I post under my real name, but use a bogus email address
that discourages spam. My real email address is no secret
[hhc3141@xxxxxxxxx]. Like the above mentioned posters, I accept
personal responsibility for anything I post.

'Nuff said.

Kindest regards, Harry C.
