Re: Using a real name

Excellent point Greg. (Cursiously I only moments ago I challenged
Osmodium to post using his real name for reasons that many readers here
realize.)

Then too, when I see someone posting to this newsgroup with a name like
"Fireball7" or "Flashbanger", correct or not, until I learn otherwise
my default is to regard them as children and guard information
accordingly. Children love to post using all sorts of neat,
imaginative, "handles", not realizing that it makes them appear to
adults as children. Adults, more commonly post under their real names
or initials, and generally sign their posts using at least their first
name. In fact, I believe that all of the "heavy hitters" whose posts
are taken seriously by readers do so at this point in the game. Hence,
we all have some clue as to who Lloyd, tes, Tom (that's a problem with
all the Tom's posting here!), Leo, Mike, Ken, and too many others like
them are, and to what extent their advice and instructions become worth
noting and filing in a book.

This, call it a stamp of credibility or imprimatur, is extremely
important in a newsgroup such as rec.pyrotechnics, because without that
imprimatur of credibility, you could really be reading a post from
someone totally without a clue of any sort, who is getting his
knowledge from the likes of an 'Anarchist Cookbook' and re-posting only
what he has read. Given the frequency of kids using the net, you could
well be reading a post written by a 9 year-old posting under the user
name of "FireworksKing".

This is particularly important here, because many if not most of the
subjects we post about can seriously injure, disfigure you for life,
and even kill if mishandled. 'Nuff said on that.

Now getting back to Lloyd, nobody actually believes the name that he
posts and published under...his real name is Edwardo Consuego, an
illegal fugitive from Guatemala wanted by Interpol on charges of bank
robbery, counterfitting, terrorism and worse. Then too, Mike S. real
name is Leonardo Constantanopoly, another shady character of mixed
Sicilian and Greek heritage (possibly a little Lebanese thrown in for
good measure), who has traveled from the west eastward in pursuit of
some rather archane goals, while himself being pursued by the "Black
Hand", Tongs, and Impossible Mission Squad concurrently.

Now listen to me carefully readers, because this is 'an offer than you
cannot refuse'. Reveal the true identities of either of these two
posters to this newsgroup to the FBI, CIA, NSA, Interpol, NAMBLA, CPSC,
BATFE, FTC, DEA, Immigration or others, and you will cease to read all
of the wonderful, factual information that these folks generously
choose to post here. Now that indeed is a deal that you cannot refuse!
:-)

Now these are facts, because they were posted by I, Guido Sanguidolce,
posting using the login name of Harry C -- hence can be taken at face
value.

Kindest regards, Harry C.
