Stig,

You've come to the right place to ask! This exact question is raised a
few times a month and there is an abundant amount of recommendations on
this topic in the archives. Search them and you'll find the answers to
all of your questions. Good luck.

beginners-intermediate ??

I hope there is some old pyro-gurus out, willing to help me..
I was thinking about buying from skylighter or something.

Tom,
It might help to tell him how to access the archives since he's a newby. (Note: The quotes are for illustration only, don't type them in)

1.) Go to "www.google.com/groups"
2.) Click the link on the right side of that page which says "Advanced Groups Search".
3.) In the Groups field put in "rec.pyrotechnics" since you don't want to see results from every newsgroup.
4.) Put in the keywords you want to search on up in the topmost fields. You also have other options available like limiting the time period or how many messages it will return.
5.) Begin the search

Here's one to get you started: http://tinyurl.com/7w2ue

That's a search of the rec.pyrotechnics group from just the last 5 years for posts containing the words "beginners" and "book". It brought up 149 hits.
