Speaking of school boy pranks....
Do you remember way back when before gun control legislation and Child
protection agency regulations when you could go to adds in the back
of magazines and order "gag" novelties like itching powder, smoke
bombs,
stink bombs and exploding cigarette inserts? As I recall, those
cigarette devices were pieces of wood impregnated with some kind
of white crystalline powder. What was that? I remember spiking my Mom's
L&M's with them. It seems the older I get the more these old quasi-pyro
remembrances from my childhood pop into my head!

heh... I remember those. I remember my Mom slapping me silly for the same
exact prank. I seem to recall reading on the little can they came in that
they contained silver fulminate ?

I was just searching some old posts. Most people assumed that they were silver fulminate but nobody stated that as a fact they were certain of. I don't remember them turning dark or any warnings about leaving them exposed to the light? Also the way they were just all loose in a metal tin would seem pretty worrisome if they were fulminate. Even a little silver fulminate can be nasty, much less having all them go off at once in a closed metal container. Can you imagine a kid having a tin of those go off in his pocket? Again I just don't think that they're fulminate, but I could certainly be wrong.
