mechanical ignition

Just wanted to share an idea I thought of and implemented succesfully:
A pull cracker can be used to ignite a pyrotechnic device. I cut the
base from a party popper. The base is a plastic tube containing a small
cracker. One end is closed, exept a tiny hole for the pull string. The
other end is open.
End of a black match (or bared quick match) is inserted alongside the
cracker, and the tube is closed around the match with hot glue.
As the cracker exploses, it cracks open on it's side. Not necessarily
by the BM. But The tube contains and distributes the flame sufficiently
to ignite the match.
I use this method to ignite rockets launched from a pleumatic canon
("spud gun"). A string is attached between the ignitor (inside the
rocket) and the breech. It's slightly longer than the barrel, so
ignition takes place only after the rocket exits muzzle.
It may be usefull for other applications.
