I've messed around with this some. It can be very frustrating to try
to guess what someone else thinks is clever, especially when you're
not sure if you'll agree.
There was one where a clue was "Sweet Potatoe," spelled incorrectly
like that and I immediately zeroed in on the Dan Quayle reference.
(That's how he thought "potato" was actually spelled.) It turned out
that it had nothing to do with Quayle and that the word was just
spelled wrong on the page.
>Oh and stuff about escher who prior to this was a favourite.
The image seems to be called "Hand with Reflecting Sphere" (1935).
Escher has another image, possibly called "Three Spheres," in which
one of them isn't reflecting.
And the domain is called "planet."
And the question says "Why are ordinary ones so dull?" Does that mean
"Why aren't ordinary spheres reflective?" Or "Why isn't a planet
reflective?"
But wait. "MC" is the domain abbreviation for Monaco. And the page
title says "Start your engines!" So, is there some race that takes
place in Monaco?
Believe, me, I've tried typing "planet" and "escher" and "atmosphere"
and "monaco" and "monaco grand prix" and other answers.
Sure, some of those answers don't incorporate all the clues, but
sometimes these answers don't incorporate all the clues. Like the
misspelling of "potato."
Anyway, I'm as stuck as you.
My latest theory is that these puzzles should come in sets of five,
and that solving each puzzle somehow gives you the reward of a single
digit (0 thru 9) after you type the correct answer. In order to move
onto the next set of five, you have to type the 5-digit number that
the five digits spell.
If someone wants to skip one out of five, he can do so easily by just
typing each of the ten possible 5-digit numbers he gets by solving the
other four puzzles. If he wants to skip two out of five, well, he'd
have to be a little more desperate. And if he's going to skip three
or more, he might as well just ask for the URL to the next set of five
puzzles (which probably shouldn't contain any spoilers in their URLs).
Just an idea I'm working out. I know that as clever as Ritz, the
game's creator, has been in producing 100 cool puzzles, that he isn't
that advanced in HTML and web stuff. But something like the 5-digit
thing (and eliminating giveaway URLs) shouldn't be too difficult.
So, any further clues on #80?
planet?
reflective?
MC? Monaco?
anything?
