What a neat picture! "Make Way for Ostriches!" Thanks again.
I can see that the lots of eggs/one chick strategy would be a huge
waste, but thought that perhaps ostriches were in that category of
critteres who have evolved methods to counteract huge egg loss/neonate
death rates --lots of possibilities, but only one or two young 'uns
are expected to make it to adulthood.
