What to charge/expect for freelance insurance/real estate photos?

Hi,
I have an uncle who's an insurance agent, and also friends who are in
the home reheb business, as well as maybe another person or two who
may need occasional pictures taken of homes, usually a few shots of
the house, garage, and property on the outside.
I'll be using my own 7.1 MP digital camera which is probably more than
adequate. I have worked on occasion for the insurance guy several
years ago with a polaroid camera at $5 a shot, and the rehab guy
paying me $6 an hour when needed, by then using a digital camera, but
all using my own car.
I am going to talk to my uncle the insurance guy soon as he is
offering me the opportunity to take shots for him again and make a few
extra bucks, and I was thinking maybe I can also see if my rehab
friend needs any shots taken. I may also have to put up for sale signs
for that one.
I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and most of the work should be in Cuyahoga
County (which includes Cleveland). There's an expanse of suburbs, so
in a day, if the job load is heavy enough, I may put 100 - 200 miles
on my car. I would try to coordinate both people's needs together on
the same day(s). This will only be part time work, as needed, maybe
only a day a week, or a couple days a month.
In the past, I always let them state what they were going to pay be,
but with today's $3.00 a gallon gas, etc, what would you recommend
that would be fair for me to get, to make a few extra bucks, but also
take care of gas, etc. Then I have something to use when they make a
proposal. Then there's the work at home getting the shots ontothe
computer and then sending them to the insurance or rehab guy. Is it my
job to crop them or otherwise maniputae them in Photoshop if needed,
or theirs? Thanks much,
Dan
.
